One of the most important units used in shoes is insoles. Insoles are produced for the purpose of correcting the foot problems of the person or helping the walking functions, as well as providing the use of comfortable shoes. Insoles also aid lower body functions. It is also used in diabetic ulcer, sole pain and knee problems. Standard insoles are produced to support the arch areas during the use of shoes, and to protect the parts that transfer the foot load such as heel and comb joints. Making insoles using CAD-CAM technology is much easier than other methods. The shape of the foot can be computerized with polyester plaster socks or by scanning the foot directly. Likewise, the footprint taken with the mold foam can be used easily in this method. The insoles shaped with the relevant computer software are shaped with the help of CNC.
One of the most important materials used in orthopedic shoe orthoses is EVA (Ethyl vinyl acetate foam). It is one of the standard materials that can be formed in the production of custom insoles. The degree of hardness (density) of the material to be used determines the area of use. Generally, EVA is used in three different densities: cirrus (soft, 20 shore A), nimbus (medium hard, 35 shore A) and Stratus (firm, 45 shore A). They are produced in different colors according to the degree of material hardness.
